this may be very helpful for some of you:
here's how you can replace the 3-pin DIN plug with a 1/4" jack to fit any standard (cheap) keyboard expression pedal with its own cable.
Clip off the plug. Cut back the insulation to reveal the 3 cables. Red and White are for the bulb, which will not be in use in this design, so they can be taped off and fit back into the insulation. I isolated each with tape about 4 or 5 different times to ensure no sparks.
My volume pedal plug is a stereo 1/4" so I used a stereo 1/4" jack.
Center conductor (pin 3) is wired to both Tip and Ring, but use the hole on the ring contact and not the one in the sandwich since it is too far away.
Finally, shield connects to sleeve, and voila! The volume pedal I used to test it is really poor, and thus has a crappy pot, but it works.
