When you you got an organ and it simply don't work when you turn it on, what would you check first? -the fuse -the capacitor -the self

I suppose that depends on what you mean by "don't work". Does the power light come on but then it just doesn't make any sound? Or does it not power up at all? If it doesn't seem to power up at all, yes the first thing to check is the fuse. If the fuse is bad, replace it with the same type ONLY. You might be ok at that point -- sometimes fuses just go bad, especially old ones -- but the new fuse might blow too. That calls for checking out the power supply for bad connections and yes, leaky capacitors (be careful!) etc. Worst case is a blown transformer; you might still be able to smell smoke/burnt smell, if that's what happened.
If it powers up, but it's just not making any sound, it could be as simple as a bad ground in the audio output. Or, there are some models that won't output any sound (e.g. Fender Contempo) without the volume pedal. --Lots of possibilities here, it would take more info to sort it out. Good luck!

Hi there, I am a new member with high hopes for belonging to this forum! I'm not long being nutty about combos but I got three of them since August and really getting into the spirit of it all. (I got Eko Tiger Duo, Yamaha YC-20 and Siel Flying 49).
My problem is with the Eko. I plugged it in yesterday and the connection where the three pin kettle lead goes in at the back is damaged. There was a short with a little popping sound, some smoke came out, and the sockets in the room tripped out at the main board. i changed one glass fuse inside the organ located near where the power connection is, and the fuse in the power cord, and now the power up light is coming on but there is no sound at all. It worked reasonably well until this, although at one stage two neighbouring notes were giving the same tone, across both manuals.
i wonder where I should go next to locate the problem? I have glued the power connecter into place (very common problem with combos I believe - loose connectors) and cannot see any other loose connections in the area.
I would really appreciate any help with this? Thanks... Peter
