Hi there, I recently got a Compact Duo which has several problems.
1: Three of the tones are off-pitch across all octaves and not tunable by turning the pots on the oscillator boards. Should these pots (unsure what to call them) be replaced? They do alter during tuning but nowhere near required pitch. A fourth pitch also has a separate tone playing alongside which does not sound good. I used plastic odds and ends to tune but in exasperation due to their breaking eventually used a metal screwdriver - does this damage these units?
2: At some stage a transformer delivering 9V 3A (according to sticker on it) was wired into the organ itself, and F/AR discarded I guess. Bass section (black keys only) of organ is totally dead though, and I can see the wires from that section (maybe 12 differently coloured ones) are just cut off, not connected to any of the 4x 1/4 jacks installed in base. How to go about linking in the bass section? (also included in retrofitting is a XLR LNE as power input (220V) and four-pin XLR, perhaps for desk audio line).
3: No F/AR means no preamp. What kind of preamp could be used as an outboard unit? Will any type work?
4: There is a wavy electronic sound and high organ-pitch type whine on powering up. No key depressed. Any cure for this (although I can easily live with it)?
5: The percussion section seems not to work at all. Will cleaning alone get me anywhere?
6: The knee lever, as far as I know, only works if multi tone booster is switched on. On use though, it only modifies the resultant sound a little. But there is a modification. Would this indicate anything about what's wrong with it?
Any information received most gratefully, fellow combonuts.
