Greetings all, We are in California this morning where I will be getting together with a former band mate named Marina del Rey. We were in an almost all girl band (me being the notable exception) called Backsatge Pass in 19... well... the date really isn't important is it? Here is the band... Marina, Me(drooling on Marina), Spock, Holly and Genny This band was playing all of the LA clubs of the day along with the Go Gos and Bangles, the Germs, thingyies, Wierdos, Knack, etc. We opened for Elvis Costello and Devo at some point. It was a very fun band to be in. Holly Vincent went on to play with a group of Brits as Holly and the Italians. Marina founded the influential synth-pop band Vivabeat. They were what I call a "Great Failed Rock Band". You can read about their struggles here... profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=67072516A very interesting story. They also have a website with more info if you Google them.

We had a terrific visit today and Marina got her old synths out of the road cases where they have gathered considerable dust for about 25 years. The first one would not make a sound at all. The second one I finally got some noise out of it. It will be coming home with me so I can work on it some more. And then she got this one out! Wow. It was the one I was able to get working today. There were some dirty contacts and the oscillators could use some calibrating but it sounded fantastic!

Are you taking the JP8 home with you? If so, you're a lucky dog... We're not worthy...

Nah, I got the Jupiter 8 working again. It stays. The 4 is coming home with me. I also picked up a Philicorda GM 760 tonight that has been waiting in storage for months.

After spending the week driving around Los Angeles, meeting old friends and making some new ones... We are heading home with the Philips Philicorda GM 760. We sold the road case and lightened the load considerably. If you are in the LA area and need to find some road cases contact Dennis Blanchette at The Case Place, 2231 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank. 818-268-2017. We also have Marina's Jupiter 4 to bring back and try to repair... Tomorrow, Vegas!
