I just picked up a Mini Compact (to match my Compact Deluxe) off of Craigslist for $25. Doesn't power up. I took the chassis out and discovered that the power transformer lead insulation is badly damaged and is shorting. I'm planning on rebuilding the power supply, but I've had trouble sourcing an appropriate transformer.
Any ideas on where to get a 120/240V primary, with 22V and 9V secondary? I tried Mouser and a couple other large electronic suppliers, but they don't have anything with 22 and 9 volt secondary.
Thanks.
Brian

Hi, Depending on the power supply circuit you may be able to get away with a slightly smaller or larger transformer rating. Do you have a schematic?

Try Heyboer .... They rewind xmers. In your case it may be posible to remove the xmer end bells (caps) and peel back the paper covering the windings and solder in replacement wires. They rewind many vintage trannys. They're located in MI or WI ... a Google search will find it...

I have the transformer from and old Mini Compact that was pretty trashed and ended being used for parts. It worked 15 years ago (meaning it powered up and sent out tones) but I can no longer test it. I removed it with anything else useful; the leads were cut. If you still need one let me know, I'll sell it cheap. I took apart the power supply today. This was put on the back burner while I repaired my Moog Taurus II bass pedals. All of the insulation on the wires from the transformer just fell off when you touched it. The good news is that once the bell housing was removed, replacing those leads looks like a pretty straight forward job. While I've got it apart, I'm planning to:
1.) Replace the permanently attached 2-prong power cable (straight from someone's lamp) with a modern 3-prong removable, and permanently wire it 120v. I'm not even going to look at the part where the existing cable changes from brown to white in a lumpy mess of electrical tape.
2.) Remove the attached 1/4" output cable and replace with a jack.
I know that I'm ruining the authenticity, but I'd rather have a solid player that isn't subject to cables going bad. It will also make it easier to pack up.

I have a 55yr old farfisa combo compact, that doesn't power up. The light doesn't go on. Is there a fuse or something where the on off switch is that could be missing?
