Missing the reverb tank on my newly acquired Compact...
Not being too technical/mechanical, can I use any reverb tank to replace it or are there issues to be considered??
I await your superior knowledge on such matters,
Humbly yours,
J

Hi Retrogorilla,
Well, almost all reverb tanks work the same. They are simply a set of springs which the audio signal is passed through. The more springs or the longer the tank the greater the reverb effect. So if you find a tank that is the same size as the original ( I would look at the mounting holes to get an Idea of it's size) you will probably be Okay. One thing to keep in mind is that reverb tanks have a dedicated input and output. You have to make sure you hook it up right. - Karl

Thanks Karl - there seems to be one "cut-off" wire hanging loose (that apparently ran to the tank). I'm guessing there's an input or output wire I'd have to figure out.

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I would post for the sake of future readers.
One thing you need to consider is the impedance of the reverb tank you are replacing it with. Some tanks are 8 Ohms, some as much as 600 ohms. Make sure you get as close to the original tanks impedance as possible or your reverb wont sound right or not work at all.
