Hey guys, I have recently acquired my very first Combo organ. A grey compact deluxe! I know the compact deluxe uses two ecc83 tubes to drive the reverb unit, and I've read that half of the second tube is used to drive the pre amp. However, I never hear about people changing, swapping, or even checking these tubes. Does anyone have any experience or insight on this? If there is a tube in the pre amp section I would imagine that swapping it out would make a significant difference in tone. Could anyone verify?
Also, I imagine the reverb circuit would be given new life with a change of tubes, but with the phono cartridge system I'm not sure it would do anything.
Any imput is appreciated, I have some 12ax7's laying around, they are slightly microphonic but I can't imagine they're any worse than my farfisa's current tubes. This organ had been thrown around quite a bit in it's day. Sounds great though! She's a keeper!

If the tubes that are already in there work fine, it's not worth it. The distinctive sound of the Farfisa comes from those transistor oscillators and the filters, not the tube preamp. Any change in tone with a tube swap would be insignificant.
