So here's the problem The output jack on the back of the organ is only picking up the bass notes. Not only that, but the output cable that comes attached to the organ is buzzing. We sautered the wires and everything that looked bad at the end of the cable back into place but it begins to buzz immediately upon putting into an amp.
Any help/ info would be greatly appreciated!
Ps I'm a total newbie at this stuff. Which is why I am here

I'm going to assume you're talking about one of the Combo Compact series.
Mine are packed away right now - more a fan of the Yamaha YC series for the past decade plus - but if I recall correctly, the jack on the back of the Combo Compact is ONLY for bass output.
Your regular output is supposed to come from the output cable that's attached to the organ. (In this day and age, that doesn't seem like the greatest configuration, especially with the kinda crappy feeling cable that comes out of the thing, but...Such is life.) So assuming you did a good job on the end of that cable, it could be either somewhere inside the cable (less likely) or something on the other end (inside the organ) of the cable. I'm no expert, so I'd likely take it to a tech to fix it.
So...What to do for now? Well...My first Combo Compact (a Deluxe I picked up in '88) had pretty much the same problem. I went around it and jacked in another cable to the headphone output just to the left of the keyboard. Not saying this is a great solution, just that it's how I dealt with it at the time.
