Hey folks, I'm new to the ORGAN NATION here. Name is Josh. Musician/music teacher and always looking to learn.
My brother-in-law found an Ace Tone Top 5 at a garage sale and got it for like $20 =). Not working well. I've since had it fully restored, (except for replacing two keys with sweet cigarette burns!). New power cable, cleaning the guts inside, re-wireing where needed, restoring the Tolex inside but keeping the case banged up b/c it looks awesome that way. etc...It plays like a dream. I'm hoping he won't ask for it back.
This brings me to the next question:
It isn't very versatile =). It does sit OK in a mix, but I'd love to use it as my main board...it looks a THOUSAND times cooler than modern synths, case is handy as it can fit legs and the weight is nice for a board. My repair guy said I should look at Moog Foggers and stuff like that...He mentioned I could run the board through something like a fogger which would give me the capability to access synth sounds with it, making it way more versatile. Does anyone have any experience doing stuff like this? Any recommendations?
Thank you very much for your time and expertise =).
