Hello fellow Combonauts,
I've been collecting/repairing many GEM/Galanti-made combo organs and have re-written the schematics for most of them.
I am able to do so by looking at all the electronic boards, components and connections and then using an electronic schematic editor to write them down as accurately as possible. I've had most of the work completed so far. Of course purchasing original schematics (the rare ones you can find) and looking at countless pictures found on the net have helped me a lot, but I have repeatedly seen errors in these old documents while comparing them to the actual instruments, and some old diagrams are also incomplete
However, all the pictures I've collected so far were from auctions, sales, forums, and blogs. This means they don't show all the 'guts' and the framing can be frustratingly off in the case they do. Also, many of the organs within one model have had numerous updates and evolutions of the circuitry. (the Jumbo GEM is a crying example, with 10 variations!). These differences in circuitry are most of the time very slight, but that's not always the case. Now lets get to the point here:
Here is the list of all the organs that we manufactured by Galanti I can help you get new diagrams for, often erroneously referred to as the 'Vox Jaguar clones': (note: they all sound pretty much the same
-Vox Jaguar (V304)
-Howard Combo
-Doric 61TT and 61MIX
-Doric 65PS and 65MIX
-Doric Cheetah and Cheetah MIX
-Ekosonic 61TT
-Ekosonic 65PS
-GEM model P
-GEM model P-DL
-Thomas P350
-LEM Combo Deluxe
-Mini GEM or Gemini
-Jumbo GEM
-GEM Jumbo 61
-GEM Caravan
-GEM Riviera or Europa
-Galanti Apollo
-Galanti Apollo 61
-Galanti Napoli
-Galanti Napoli 61
-Galanti Napoli Duo
-Galanti Clipper
-Galanti Clipper 61
-Melody 49
-Viggen (49)
-Viggen Favorit (61)
These organs fall in 3 main categories:
-The 'seperate Bass Output organs' (Jaguar, model P, P350, Doric, Ekosonic, Howard, LEM)
-The 'Amp and Speaker organs' (Jumbo, Mini, Apollo, Caravan, Clipper, Riviera, Melody)
-The 'Spinets' (Napoli, Viggen)
So here it is. If you can help me out by posting/sending pictures of your instruments, I can in return help all of you get better and easier future maintenance in order to keep these beasts alive! The future still needs analog after all...
Note that the pics have to be precise and of good quality to ease work. I will elaborate on instructions later.
I can also help you determine what version you own, and do a bit of 'evolutionary history of the manufacturer' kind of thing in my reply.
If you have an issue or malfunction with your instrument, please ask.
ANY questions are welcome.
So, let me now read them
Peace and Cheese,
Charles
