Hey, I just picked this up at my local thrift store for what all I can say was a REALLY GOOD DEAL..! I don't know much about combo organs, and i'm looking at flipping this off onto ebay now. My question is - what do combo organ buyers look for when buying organs? I want to make sure my ebay ad has all the important information combo organ buyers want to know before purchasing.. here are a couple pics... i'm in the process of making a video to show it in action (btw - all keys work and sound options) Oh ya how old is this thing? From the research i've done i can't tell what year it's from.. Thanks a lot! Dan

Dude, why do you even want to sell it? Are you even a player?
Did you join this forum simply to plumb us for info, then turn around and maximize your profit? That's pure greed. You should have left it in that thrift store so that some real-life keyboard player could have gotten a good deal. Like some poor 18 year old kid who can't afford anything from the music store, but wants to start a band.
It sickens me when people like you see a vintage instrument, dollar signs start spinning in your eyes, and you immediately try to make a killing on ebay. Yes, you'll say it's capitalist, and it's American. Well, it's also greedy, and evil.
I'm sorry if this is harsh. And many other forum-goers may not agree with me. No offense, but I pray to God that you get the least amount of money possible for that organ.

Hey man - i'm sorry that I offended you, I wasn't trying to be an ***hole.. I really didn't look at it from your perspective, and yeah, now that i see your point of view, I can understand your frustrations..
I've never done this kind of thing before, and I thought it'd be fun to try out this antique roadshow thing.
It is capitalist, and i'm canadian! I'm just trying to pay for some snow tires for this town I just moved to (we get 40-60 feet of snow in revelstoke, bc)..
I've done some more research and i'll post this into the buy and sell section of this forum.. I was just trying to spark some interest and gain some knowledge, not bring anger to this online community.

well, if you make money out of it, congratulations! you've been in the right place at the right time, and had the right thought!
I did the same with other organs, but I'm even more satisfied when it's someone who loves vintage stuff who buy it, so I'm sure he's not gonna break that thing that survived till now

I have a short temper sometimes. Sorry...sort of.
Though, I often think that when someone sells a combo organ (or anything special), the buyer should be screened.

What did this end up fetching on the Ebay?
I've never gotten anything at a flea market, garage sale or thrift store....I've always had to pay top dollar and spend years agonizing over each and every piece of gear I have. It isn't because I haven't tried either. I've gone to thousands of garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets and I've never seen anything good...I understand Franz anger (But mine is simply due to jealousy)

But I *have* gotten great deals on Craigslist.

It isn't because I haven't tried either. I've gone to thousands of garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets and I've never seen anything good...I understand Franz anger (But mine is simply due to jealousy) If I remember correctly, it went for around $450. Now that the kid has made money, I don't think we'll ever hear from him again. Unless he's looking to "flip" something else. I, too, have never found anything at garage sales or flea markets. I only ever come across Magnus air organs. You know the ones. I think the era of getting deals at garage sales and such is coming to a close. Between ebay and other places, people have become too savvy (read greedy) and are simply looking to make a quick buck rather than find a good home. Even this forum... somebody, let's say who has found a Top 5 doesn't know how much its worth, googles it, comes here, finds this very entry of me saying, "it went for around $450" and then starts the bidding on ebay at $450. Hence the prices go up and up. I was hoping the recession would bring combo prices down. Guess not. Am I bitter? Yeah, I s'pose I am. That's me. I'm a bitter jerk. Deal with it. Anyways, I'm considering going back and deleting every forum comment I've made that specifically mention prices. So a few days from now, I'll edit this one here and the price will be replaced with a ??.

hahaha!!! good idea to replace your prices, but people will still manage to find out one way or another....
You're right saying that good deals at garage sales are over: I've been on car boot sales for more than 15 odd years, collecting 60's stuff, like original lava/gliter lamps, nice ashtrays, lamps, records of course, and anything that would look groovy to me; all this stuff having gone into fashion in the 90's, they are litterally impossible to find nowadays. Well, one can always get lucky, it still happens to me, but this is so bloody rare, that considering the time spent, is it really worth the trouble?
Well, a couple of months ago, a friend found a Farfisa Matador (see the "show me your organ" section) for €20, I know a guy who found a 60's Gretsch guitar for an equivalent amount, several years ago, I found a 60's Wandré guitar for €15 some 10 years ago (still have it), so I think there is hope, even if very slim...
Yet, I am bitter aboutt all this as well.... The good days are over!

The good days are *not* over...You just have to pay close attention. I got a mostly working Vox Continental last year for $200 via Craigslist. Yes, seriously. I think the only thing I still need to do is replace a cap.
I also got a Whitehall 6640 for $40. Perfect working condition, with legs and all.

Not to rub it in anyone's face, and I don't think you all will get mad at me for this. But I got an Acetone TOP 5 for FREE.
A good friend of mine's dad had one, and I had my eye on it for a long time. I offered to buy it from him several times. Then one day this summer he (the dad) sends me a message on facebook saying he's cleaning some stuff out and the organ has got to go, and he wanted me to have it! He said he played it for YEARS (bought it when it was new) and he definitely wanted to pass it on to someone who would be passionate about it. I guess thats the best way to do it.
I have abosolutely, infinitely, positively NO intention of selling this beautiful instrument. It sounds so good through a guitar amp, and i've already done open mic blues jams with it several times already. It so much easier to carry around than my midi keyboard and computerized soft synths.
Although I did have alot of old guys come up and take pictures of it saying they'd never seen something like it before. I thought that was strange.
I joined this forum just to say that. I can see where ya'll would get mad at a guy just coming in here to get some info to sell it with.
