Hello I have acquired the above organ without pedalboard. It is pretty much dead, although I thought when I first plugged it in I could hear some sound, just very very quiet.
It powers up, with all LEDs working on the selector buttons.
I have the schematics, and thought it might just be a power supply problem, but I am reading the correct psu outputs (plus 12 volts, minus 12 volts and minus 27 volts).
The elka is nicely designed in a modular way. I have inspected the main modules and can see some damage to some capacitors. These are the old bumble bee type multicolored ones and the surfaces of them are cracked. The main damage is on the brass section board.
What I would like to know is: Is there anything else I should look for with regard to the power supply?
Also, can anyone with experience with Elkas point me to any way of narrowing down what I should be looking at after the power supply checks out.
As I say, I have the schematics, but am a bit stumped as to what to check next.
The main oscillator/divider board is recieving the correct voltage from the PSU..... Generally inside the organ is very clean. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Alan

Hi Alan, I have not worked on this model before, but I think the organ is actually fine. If the missing pedel board also has the volume or damper pedel then you can't turn it up. ( I have seen many farfs like this) I would trace through the schematic, starting at the output jacks and follow it to the amplifier circuit. Look for any connectors along the way that could be a damper pedel insert jack. If you cannot find an original pedel board you may have to get creative with the circuit. Let Me Know
Best Regards -Karl

Hi. I have two X-605s and can confirm that the organ will not sound at all unless the swell pedal is plugged in. Also, the labelling on the black switces on the lower manual right cheek is a bit confusing. If you don't have the Elkatone rotary cabinet then plug your amp into the General output and make sure the cabinet switch is in the off position, otherwise you will only hear the strings and piano. Let us know how you get on, this is a great little organ. I have modded mine so that strings and piano can be played on both manuals at the same time. (I am just restoring an Elka X-55 to give to my young nephew. (7 years old and keen to learn). John.

I know this is a bit of a thread resurrection, but I too have an issue with a 705 - no sound whatsoever. I have the swell pedal and visually, everything seems to be working, but zero audio output. I'm guessing its an issue with the swell, but I read somewhere that the swell socket pins could be bridged to bypass the pedal (in order to test the main output) - anyone got an idea about this? Cheers!
